WASC's insurance covers a range of low-risk outdoor activities, including walking, swimming, surfing, snorkelling, camping, inland paddling and cycling. It does NOT cover more dangerous activities such as outdoor trad/sport climbing, mountain scrambling, caving, potholing, mountain biking, sea and coastal paddling, skiing/snowboarding and white water paddling. Members who wish to engage in these activities through the club need to take out personal insurance such as 'On the water' membership by British Canoeing, membership of British Mountaineering Council / British Caving Association, or equivalent sports cover.

WASC's kayaks and paddleboards are not licensed. That means that they can only be paddled on waterways that do not require one. You can check whether a waterway requires a license for a trip here. Licenses can be purchased in advance for a specific trip.
